Imagine scrolling through a live feed of wild lands across America: Deer at dusk in Wisconsin, a black bear in Montana, a coyote caught on camera in Texas. All of it is searchable by species, state, and time of day.
That’s the vision behind HLRBO’s nationwide trail-cam network, set to launch this month. The program begins with 60 solar-powered cameras. They are mounted in trees and objects in the woods of Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas, Iowa, Minnesota, and beyond.
More properties are added each week. The cameras are placed by HLRBO’s field rep team, who install them while onboarding new properties put up for lease.
“Our plan is to roll out as many cameras as possible,” said Heath Schubert, co-founder of HLRBO. “Eventually, hunters will be able to search by animal type, get alerts, and receive push notifications when something walks in front of a camera.”
The cameras automatically upload images to the HLRBO site. They will be integrated into property listing pages and a soon-to-launch map tool.
Schubert said it’s a whole new way to scout. The system will use AI to tag animals and allow filtering by species, date, region, and other factors.
Even in early tests, the system is delivering surprises. “Some of the first photos already have people guessing… was that a mountain lion, or just a blurry housecat?” said Schubert. “It’s fun, but also serious intel for anyone planning their season.”
HLRBO’s full rollout will include a searchable image feed, species classification, and notification options customized by hunter preference. The interactive trail cam map is set to debut later this year.
“This upgrade adds value for both hunters and landowners alike,” Schubert said. “For landowners, it provides real-time proof of wildlife, which can increase lease prices. For hunters, it provides confidence in what’s on a property before they commit.”
HLRBO aims to have hundreds of cameras deployed before the 2025 fall hunting season. With AI-powered scouting and a growing live feed of the American backcountry, the company is betting that this tech-forward approach will redefine how hunters discover and choose land.
