The crisp morning air carried a subtle frost as I stepped onto the property, my breath hanging visibly in the dim light of dawn. My heart quickened as he paused 50 yards out, sniffing the air. With the wind in my favor, I steadied myself and raised my rifle, waiting for the perfect shot. Time seemed to slow as he stepped into a clearing, his broadside silhouette framed by the golden hues of the sunrise. The crack of the rifle broke the stillness, and the buck bolted a short distance before collapsing in the brush. As I approached him, I couldn’t help but admire the beauty and respect the spirit of this magnificent animal.
