About This Lease
The Bally Watts Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is divided into north and south by Cottonwood Creek. Cottonwood Creek enters the Unit at about 5400 feet elevation and exits the unit at 5200 feet. In the north part Bally Watts Creek starts around 6800 feet and exits about 5400 feet, flowing in northwest direction. On the north part Elk Mountain at 7400 feet is the highest point and sloping in a northwest direction to 5400 feet. In the south, Big Mohagany Mountain at 7700 feet and Little Mohagany Mountain at 7200 feet are the highest points. The lowest is about 5000 feet along the Weber River. The most common elevation is 6000 feet but ranges from 5000 feet to 8700 feet with an elevation difference of 3700 feet. Fifty-four percent (54%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 5900 feet and 7600 feet an elevation difference of 1700 feet.The Bally Watts Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is dominated by Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62). Patches of Rocky Mountain Oak-Mixed Montane Shrubland (41) area scattered throughout the Unit. In the middle and north part of the Unit are large areas of Rocky Mountain Bigtooth Maple Ravine Woodland (23). There are also large patches of Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland (22) scattered throughout the Unit. Colorado Plateau Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (36) adds to the Forest and Woodland character of the Unit. Invasive Perennial Garssland (119) and Southern Rocky Mountain Montane- Subalpine Grassland (71) adds to the Grassland character of the Unit. Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Steppe (66) and Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48) add to the shrubland character of the Unit. One of the Bally Watts Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, HUNTSVILLE MONESTERY (424135), is about 4.4 km north from the north edge of the CWMU. HUNTSVILLE MONESTERY has thirty-one (31) years of records, 1976 - 2007. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 5.74 inches, but it can be as high as 12.30 inches or as low as 1.36 inches. During the 91-day FALL period, 22 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of percipitation, 14 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 3 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. There can also be 1 day of greater than or equal to 1.00 inch precipitation. Total FALL snowfall averages 10.2 inches but can be as high as 31.0 inches. FALL temperature at HUNTSVILLE MONESTERY averages 46.0 degrees F. but can be as high as 95.0 degrees F. or as low as -16.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 56 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and less than 1 day above 90 degrees F.
