About This Lease
The Coldwater Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is part of the Bear River Range south of Blacksmith Fork. The South Cottonwood Canyon divides the Unit almost into a west and east half. This canyon ranges from about 6400 feet to 7200 feet in elevation. To the east the elevation doesn't rise much and the area flattens out before dropping down to 5600 feet on the northeast boundary. On the west half the elevation rises rapidly to around 8000 feet, then drops quickly to 6400 feet in the north and 7400 feet in the south. The most common elevation is 7100 feet but ranges from 5100 feet to 8200 feet with an elevation difference of 3100 feet. Fifty-six percent (56%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 6300 feet and 7200 feet an elevation difference of 900 feet. The eastern two-thirds of the Coldwater Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU)is composed of Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62). In conjunction with this Sagebrush Steppe are large patches of Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland (22). Towards the middle of the unit these large patches of Aspen Forest and Woodland coalesce into a sizable stand of Aspen Forest and Woodland. Much of the rest of the unit is composed of patches of Rocky Mountain Montane Mesic Mixed Conifer Forest and Woodland (32), Rocky Mountain Bigtooth Maple Ravine Woodland (23), Rocky Mountain Montane Dry-Mesic Mixed Conifer Forest and Woodland (30), Inter-Mountain Basins Mountain Mahogany Woodland and Shrubland (44), Rocky Mountain Subalpine Mesic Meadow (70), Inter-Mountain West Aspen-Mixed Conifer Forest and Woodland Complex (38), and Rocky Mountain Subalpine-Montane Riparian Shrubland (77).One of the Clearwater Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, HARDWARE RANCH(423671), is about 0.5 km north from the north edge of the CWMU. HARDWARE RANCH has thirty-five (35) years of records, 1956 - 1991. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 3.47 inches, but it can be as high as (not available) inches or as low as (not available) inches. During the 91-day FALL period, 12 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 7 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 2 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation.
