The Coyote Little Pole Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located south of Jordanelle Reservoir and north of Heber City, Utah. The elevation ranges from 5800 feet on the west to 7600 feet in the middle of the Unit. The CWMU is somewhat divided into a west and east halves. The west half is higher in elevation and is cut by Coyote Canyon (5800 Feet to 7400 Feet). Little Pole Canyon (6600 Feet to 7200 feet) cuts the east half. The most common elevation is 7200 feet but ranges from 5700 feet to 7700 feet with an elevation difference of 2000 feet. Sixty-one percent (61%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 5900 feet and 7200 feet an elevation difference of 1300 feet.Over sixty percent (60%) of the Coyote Little Pole Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62). Rocky Mountain Gambel Oak-Mixed Montane Shrubland (41) is the next most common land cover type. This Shrubland occurs as large patches particularly in the west part of the Unit. Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland (22) is also a common land cover type.One of the Coyote Little Pole Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, HEBER (423809), is about 4.7 km southwest from the southwest edge of the CWMU. HEBER has one hundred sixteen (116) years of records, 1892 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 4.01 inches, but it can be as high as 7.87 inches or as low as 0.50 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 18 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 11 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 2 day of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. There will also be 1 day of greater than or equal to 1.00 inch of precipitation. Snowfall during the FALL averages 8.7 inches but can be as high as 27.0 inches. FALL temperature at HEBER averages 46.9 degrees F. but can be as high as 98.0 degrees F. or as low as -14.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 56 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and 1 day above 90 degrees F.
