The Deer Haven Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is southeast of Monticello, Utah about 2.7 miles in San Juan County. Montezuma Creek is a promenant feature on the western part of the CWMU, entering the unit at about 6600 feet elevation and leaving the unit at 6100 feet. On the eastern part of the unit, Boulder Canyon and Pearson Canyon both drain in a northeast to southwest direction to meet with Montezuma Creek.The most common elevation is 6800 feet, but it ranges from 5800 feet to 7100 feet, a difference of 1300 feet. Ninety-four percent (94%) of the unit ranges between 6600 and 7100 feet, a difference of 500 feet. Nearly two-thirds (65%) of the Deer Haven Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is composed of Agriculture (114) land cover, this agriculture is spread across most of the unit. With Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48, 18%) and Colorado Plateau Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (36, 12%) 96% of the land is covered.
