About This Lease
The Deer Haven Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is southeast of Monticello, Utah about 2.7 miles in San Juan County. Montezuma Creek is a promenant feature on the western part of the CWMU, entering the unit at about 6600 feet elevation and leaving the unit at 6100 feet. On the eastern part of the unit, Boulder Canyon and Pearson Canyon both drain in a northeast to southwest direction to meet with Montezuma Creek.The most common elevation is 6800 feet, but it ranges from 5800 feet to 7100 feet, a difference of 1300 feet. Ninety-four percent (94%) of the unit ranges between 6600 and 7100 feet, a difference of 500 feet. Nearly two-thirds (65%) of the Deer Haven Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is composed of Agriculture (114) land cover, this agriculture is spread across most of the unit. With Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48, 18%) and Colorado Plateau Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (36, 12%) 96% of the land is covered. One of the Deer Haven Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, MONTICELLO (425805), is about 2.0 km northwest from the northwest edge of the CWMU. MONTICELLO has one hundared six (106) years of records, 1902 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average percipitation is 4.31 inches, but it can be as high as 10.31 inches or as low as 0.52 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 17 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of percipitation, 10 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 3 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of percipitation. There is also 1 day that can have greater than or equal to 1.00 inch of precipitation . Snowfall during the FALL averages 6.7 inches but can be as high as 22.0 inches. FALL temperature at MONTICELLO averages 47.7 degrees F. but can be as high as 91.0 degrees F. or as low as -8.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 39 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and no days above 90 degrees F.
