About This Lease
The Engineer Springs Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located north of the Bear River National Migratory Bird Refuge on Engineer Mountains and abuts the Golden Spike National Historic Site. The highest point on the Unit is in the south at 5300 feet. There are also a couple of peaks in the northeast corner that reach about 5200 feet. Lower elevations are around 4300 feet near Lampo Junction. Generally there is a hilly region in the north, some flatter areas towards the south before elevation rises up again. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 4600 feet and 5100 feet an elevation difference of 500 feet. Most of the Engineer Springs Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is covered with Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48). But, there are large patches of Agriculture (114) and many smaller patches of Invasive Annual Grassland (121). In the southeast corner are extensive areas of Inter-Mountain Basins Greasewood Flat (82), and scattered throughout the Unit are much smaller areas of Inter-Mountain Basins Semi-Desert Grassland (76). One of the Ensign Ranches Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, COALVILLE (421590), is about 5.4 km south from the south edge of the CWMU. COALVILLE has thirty-four (34) years of records, 1974 - 2008.
