About This Lease
The Park Valley Herford Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located north of Park Valley and Rosette, Utah on the Raft River Mountains. On the westside of the Unit the higher elevation is 9000 feet increasing to 9900 feet, then decreasing to 8800 feet in the east. Many creeks drain off this south facing side of the Raft Rivers. Pine Creek ranges from 5800 feet to 9400 feet, Duncan Canyon ranges from 5900 feet to 7500 feet, Rock canyon ranging from 6900 feet to 9200 feet, Fisher Creek Canyon ranging from 6000 feet to 8400 feet, Dunn Canyon ranging from 5900 feet to 9400 feet, and Quaken Aspen Canyon ranging from 5900 feet to 8600 feet. The most common elevation is 6000 feet but ranges from 5,700 feet to 9900 feet with an elevation difference of 4200 feet. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 6600 feet and 9000 feet an elevation difference of 2400 feet.The northern parts of the Park Valley Hereford Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) are mostly Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62). In the middle of the Unit is a band of Inter-Mountain Basins Cliff and Canyon (8). On the southern most parts of the Unit are areas of Great Basin Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (37). Among the Pinyon-Juniper Woodland, are patches of Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48) and Great Basin Xeric Mixed Sagebrush Shrubland (49). Among the northern part Sagebrush Steppe are patches of Inter-Mountain Mahogany Woodland and Shrubland (44).One of the Park Valley Hereford Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, PARK VALLEY (427408), is about 3.6 km south from the south edge of the CWMU. PARK VALLEY has seventy-nine (79) years of records, 1911 - 1990. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 2.45 inches, but it can be as high as 6.38 inches or as low as 0.62 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 13 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 7 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 1 day of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. Snowfall during the FALL averages 5.8 inches but can be as high as 22.5 inches. FALL temperature at PARK VALLEY averages 48.4 degrees F. but can be as high as 93.0 degrees F. or as low as 0.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 36 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and no days above 90 degrees F.
