The Three C Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is southeast of Heber City. The highest elevation is in the southeast at near 9900 feet. This high elevation decreases to 7200 feet in the northwest. Crooked Creek is one of the drainages that cuts the Unit. It ranges from 6600 feet to 8700 feet. Center Creek is another drainage that cuts the Unit. It ranges from 6400 feet to 8600 feet. The most common elevation is 8000 feet but ranges from 5800 feet to 9900 feet with an elevation difference of 4100 feet. Fifty-three percent (53%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 7000 feet and 8700 feet an elevation difference of 1700 feet.The Three C Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is somewhat divided in half. On the west half the land cover is dominated by Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62) and Rocky Mountain Gambel Oak-Mixed Montane Shrubland (41). Whereas, the east half is dominated by Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland (22). Rocky Mountain Bigtooth Maple Ravine Woodland (23), Rocky Mountain Subalpine Mesic Spruce-Fir Forest and Woodland (28), and Colorado Plateau Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (36) add to the Forest and Woodland character of the Unit. Rocky Mountain Subalpine-Montane Riparian Shrubland (77) and Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland support the Shrubland character.One of the Three C Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, HEBER (423809), is 4.6 km northwest of the northwest edge of the CWMU. HEBER has one hundred sixteen (116) years of records, 1892 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 3.92 inches, but it can be as high as 10.14 inches or as low as 0.50 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 18 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 11 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 2 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. Snowfall during the FALL averages 8.9 inches but can be as high as 29.5 inches. FALL temperature at HEBER averages 46.6 degrees F. but can be as high as 98.0 degrees F. or as low as -21.0 degrees F.
