This preserve showcases all the natural qualities of the Pine Barrens; dry open pitch pine forests, moist pitch pine lowlands, oak uplands, and Atlantic white cedar stands that surround long abandoned cranberry bogs. The property also supports a cluster of naturally-formed, circular-shaped coastal plain ponds, sometimes called "pingos." These wetlands are home to Pine Barrens treefrog.
The Trust has added to the preserve though land donations from the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and is working closely with the NJ Department of Treasury to protect excess lands at the New Lisbon Developmental Center.
