About This Lease
This bow only deer season lease is in Pushmataha county, which has consistently been the top 1 or 2 deer counties in the state for mature deer. In fact, 2007 saw 2 state record bucks, a 192" and a 194" typical, taken within 10 days of one another in this county. Properties like this are hard to find and this 160-acre spot is special - part of my larger 800 acre ranch that I bow hunt. This property draws some great bucks and just about everything you could want for quality deer. 161" deer taken in 2021 and 151" deer taken in 2020. Property consists of pines, lots of hard woods, good cover, big creek bottom area, draws, mountain sides, and plenty of water. The beauty, water amenities, great genetics, and big buck presence makes this is an exceptional lease. The creek bottom has been torn up with rubs & scraps when I have walked through turkey hunting. No cattle on property. We manage for quality deer, not meat hunting. We don’t shoot deer that aren’t old/mature and there is a point/width restriction. There are lots of turkey on this property during the spring and fall with black bear moving through as well, but this lease only includes deer/hog hunting. There is a log road in the bottom that runs along the east side of creek that would make for a good Winter Rye plot. I started feeding 20% protein (through bear proof feeders) in 2020; would like you to do the same but not required. This is mountainous country (you will need to be in shape) with plenty of rocks, etc. and lots of mature timber that makes using climber stands perfect. The lease is surrounded by mature timber in all directions with very light to no hunting pressure on bordering properties. As a bonus, there is good fishing on the creek. The property has log road access to the camp site and the creek but beyond that no ATVs, etc. are allowed across the creek. The campsite location (just a flat area) is near the corner of the lease. You could pitch a tent, bring in a small camper, or stay at a hotel in nearby Antlers. We don’t want alcohol or drugs on property. 2 of the 3 leasers I’ve had over last 15 years leased it sight unseen. No tire kickers - I’ll show it if necessary for gas. I’m looking for a trophy hunter who is mature enough to let nice young bucks walk. Since bow only this place is large enough for two guys but has only ever had 1 hunter in the past. The rate is $3,500 for 1 hunter or will allow 2 for $5,000. Hunter can shoot 1 mature buck and 1 doe if they feel it makes sense from a management perspective. Must agree to shoot all hogs on site.
