About This AreaJamesport Community Lake is in Daviess County, approximately one mile north of Jamesport on Highway 190, then two miles west on Route RA.Jamesport residents raised funds to buy the property, and the Conservation Department agreed to accept ownership and development of the lake. The lake was built in 1956, which was the first community lake built under such an agreement. The Conservation Department later purchased additional land to protect the lake's watershed.The area consists of the 30-acre lake, surrounded by 115 acres of timber and old fields. The lake has one boat ramp and parking for vehicles with trailers. Bank anglers can access the shoreline in open areas and from lakeside foot trails.The lake supports good populations of largemouth bass and crappie. Bluegill and channel catfish have also been stocked.
