About This AreaThis area provides public access to the Thompson River. It is comprised of approximately 70 acres of woodland and 10 acres of openland. The open field contains a small restored wetland. The area name originated with a real estate agent and piano player from Atlanta, Georgia who built a small cabin on a nearby hill and named his retreat "Mockin' Bird Hill".
