Driving DirectionsFrom Pittsburg, take Highway 64 south 4 miles, then County Road 328 west 1 mile, then turn north, the road becomes County Road 167. Take County Road 167 north about 0.75 mile, then turn west on County Road 320. This road turns into County Road 163 for about 0.50 mile. Continue on County Road 163 for about 0.50 mile to where it becomes County Road 325. Go about 0.25 mile to the area welcome sign. HighlightsThis area is mostly forested with upland woodland and glade communities. Facilities/features: wet-weather stream. About This AreaSentinel Conservation Area is in Polk County. Sentinel Conservation Area was acquired in part through the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.The area has one of the best-known dolomite glade systems in the area. Glade and woodland restoration is in progress on the area.In the springtime, wildflowers such as Indian Paintbrush, Missouri Primrose and Shooting Star can be seen along with many other wildflowers and native grasses. The area is also home to various wildlife species, including deer, turkey, rabbit, quail, and squirrel.A small creek running through the north part of the area provides water for wildlife, but it offers no fishing opportunities.
