Ricky Bell lives and works in the Lowcountry of South Carolina

The South Carolina is an incredibly diverse state with salt marshes near the ocean and timbered mountains to the North and West. This creates a rich mix of pine and oak timber, agricultural fields, and varied habitat that supports everything from deer, doves, and turkey to waterfowl and hogs.

Based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Ricky Bell serves as a South Carolina Field Representative for HLRBO, where he focuses on building relationships with landowners and helping bring new properties onto the platform. HLRBO is an online hunting lease platform, but Bell works face-to-face—meeting landowners, walking properties, and getting a true feel for the land.

Hunting leases are a major part of the outdoor culture in Bell's territory. With land prices continuing to rise, leasing has become the more practical option for many hunters. Historically, much of the land was leased through paper companies, but that trend is shifting as those operations close or sell. Today, most leases range from 100 to 2,000 acres, offering options for a variety of budgets and ambitions.

Although still early in his time as a field rep, Ricky has already gained valuable experience verifying and improving listings. One property near Heath Springs in the Northwest part of the state stood out—an active farm with fields, timber, and a pond that offered, as he described, “everything a hunter could want.”

Hunting has been part of Ricky’s life since childhood. Introduced to the outdoors at just five or six years old, he started as his father’s “retriever,” helping track down doves and ducks. Today, he’s an avid deer and turkey hunter and now shares that passion with his 13-year-old son.

Outside of HLRBO, Ricky stays busy with family life—his wife, daughter, son, and two dogs—and spends as much time outdoors as possible. Whether it’s hunting, fishing, boating, or shooting sports, the outdoors remains central to his life. He even enjoys the everyday moments, living on a few acres where deer and turkeys regularly pass by his window. Professionally, he has spent over two decades in the construction equipment rental industry and now manages a branch for one of the largest equipment rental companies in the world.

Many landowners don’t realize that HLRBO Field Reps will come walk their property and create content for their listing — for free.
