About This Lease
Hunters will experience a rewarding day afield, pursuing white-tailed deer, waterfowl, rabbits, mourning doves, wild turkey, woodcock, squirrels, fox and raccoon. Ducks abound on the many ponds and streams, which also offer excellent fishing for bass and bluegills. Visitors armed with cameras can catch intimate shots of wild animals in their secretive worlds. Area Regulations Use of Millington WMA is generally permitted seven days a week throughout the year, however all users must sign-in before heading afield. The sign-in sheet is located at 33626 Maryland Line Road, Massey, MD 21650. Hunting is allowed in accordance with open seasons and shooting hours, unless otherwise noted. Exceptions detailed below. All State and Federal Hunting Laws and Regulations are applicable. Trapping is by permit only. Dove hunting is restricted to certain days and shooting hours. No motorized vehicles are allowed, except in disabled hunter access area, by users with permits. Horseback riding during the hunting season is permitted on Sundays only. Migratory Canada Goose and spring turkey hunters must obtain a free Central Region Public Hunting Permit and reservation through the DNR Gwynnbrook office (410-356-9272). Area Hunting Rules Public Hunting on Millington Wildlife Management Area The Millington Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is open for hunting during all established seasons. Before entering the Millington WMA each day, all other users must register by providing their name, species hunted/activity (deer hunting, hiking, etc…), and vehicle tag number on a sign-in sheet. All vehicles must be parked in designated parking lots, no exceptions. Overnight parking or camping is prohibited on the WMA without the permission of the Area Manager. WMA boundary lines are marked with Managed Hunting Area signs and/or yellow paint. Adjacent land is private property. Protect the sport of hunting; respect landowner’s rights. Portable tree stands and blinds are permitted but must be removed at the end of each day. MD DNR personnel will remove any stands and blinds left overnight. Hunting of Bobwhite Quail is prohibited at the Millington WMA. An ongoing habitat restoration and research project has necessitated this closure. The Wildlife and Heritage Service reserves the right to refuse to issue a permit, deny further privileges, to revoke any permit and eject forthwith the holder from the WMA for disorderly conduct, intoxication, dangerous behavior, destruction of property, violation of any WMA, state, or Federal regulation or any behavior which interferes with the proper management of the WMA. Waterfowl Hunting Rules: Duck, snow goose, and resident Canada goose hunting is allowed along any stream, pond, impoundment, or field located on the WMA, however no duck or snow goose hunting will be permitted within 500 yards of an established blind site during the migratory Canada goose season.
