Nine Times Preserve is a 560 acre property located just 15 minutes from the Town of Pickens. Nine Times was protected in a partnership project by The Nature Conservancy, Upstate Forever, Naturaland Trust and private donors. It is available for public recreation including hunting through a cooperative agreement with SCDNR as a Wildlife Management Area. It is part of the Franklin Gravely WMA and follows regular Game Zone 1 WMA seasons.
The preserve contains five mountains, with over 134 species of native wildflowers due to its location between the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains and the Piedmont. In addition to its 134 species of wildflowers, visitors can find seven distinct forest types, outcrop plant communities and diverse wildlife. The property offers exceptional bird and nature viewing throughout the year. You may even see a peregrine falcon on the property. New in 2012, a 1.7 mile trial was completed through the Recreational Trails Program that helps visitors locate the different habitat types through the location.
SCDNR asks that all visitors help protect the property and its resources so it will remain available for public use.
