On the east rim of the Pine Creek Gorge (also known as the PA Grand Canyon), the 585-acre park has modern facilities, a visitor center and the most famous scenic views of the canyon. Call or go online for camping reservations. Rustic sites, some with electric are available. Hiking trails traverse very rugged terrain, passing close to many steep cliffs and may have slippery surfaces. Trails include the Turkey Path Trail, Overlook Trail and Pine Creek Trail. The Pine Creek Trail is a multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling and cross-country skiing. Horseback riding is only permitted on the dirt access road immediately beside the Pine Creek Trail for a nine-mile length from Ansonia to Tiadaghton. Trail users can view dramatic rock outcrops, waterfalls and wildlife like eagles, osprey, coyote, deer, wild turkey, heron, river otter, black bear and many others. About 250 acres are open to hunting and trapping. Common game species are deer, turkey, rabbit, pheasant and squirrel.
