Nestled within the expansive Ottawa National Forest, this property offers a unique blend of upland and wetland environments, creating a diverse and thriving wildlife habitat. The property features both dry, forested areas and lush, partially swampy terrain, providing an ideal setting for a variety of game species including: deer, bear, turkey, grouse and woodcock. Access to the area is straightforward, as it’s partially boarding US-2. There is also a well-maintained service road leading through the Ottawa National Forest and bordering part of the property. The upland sections are a series of ridges and mounds that have been logged years ago and are now grown back as dense, excellent cover for all wildlife, but especially woodcock, as I flushed a group of five while walking the property. The swampy portions of the property are also teeming with life, from waterfowl and beavers to all kinds of wild mushrooms. What I loved most about this property is that it offers what the thousands of acres around it do not: dense cover. Because of this, the property is the center of travel for all the local deer. I walked the border of the property and saw a ton of deer trails leading into it. You’ll also see in the pictures that I found an area in the center of the property where turkeys are dusting. This area is perfect for those seeking a serene hunting retreat in the heart of nature, with the added benefit of being right in the middle of one of Michigans most treasured forest reserves.
