About This Lease
1,124 acres on the Hornet Creek drainage west of Council in Adams County, Unit 22, Weiser River Elk Zone. Available October 1 through November 3, exclusive to one group. The property runs from timbered ridges at the northwest end down through Hornet Creek and its timber corridor, opening into meadow and creek bottom at the lower end near Council-Cuprum Road. Bedding cover up top, a travel corridor through the middle, feed at the bottom. There is an existing road system through the upper timber. Two sections of State of Idaho ground border it on the west and south-west, about 1,110 acres combined, with more public country beyond. Unit 22 is 54 percent National Forest. In 2025 it saw 2,448 elk hunters and more than 15,000 hunter-days, with roughly 1,500 of those hunting rifle inside a ten-day season. Elk in this drainage move off that pressure and come downhill. This ground sits between the public timber and the valley, which is why it hunts better in late October than it does in September. Plenty of elk and deer are seen on this property every day, and when the public land gets crowded, the elk move this way. Any legal game. No species restriction, so long as you have the right tag. Bull, cow, mule deer, whitetail, black bear, turkey, mountain lion, wolf, grouse. Whatever tag you hold, if the season is open you can hunt it here. ATVs are permitted, including for game recovery. Seasons inside the lease window: - General rifle elk, October 25 to November 3, Weiser River B tag, antlered. The full season. - General rifle deer, October 10 to 24, two-point restriction. The full season. - Whitetail tag, October 10 to 31, no antler restriction. The full season. - Controlled elk 2060, antlerless, October 1 to 24. Covered end to end. - Controlled elk 2061, antlerless, October 25 to November 10. Covered through November 3. - Controlled deer 1084, muzzleloader, October 1 to 9. Covered end to end. - Controlled deer 1014, November 1 to 24. Covered November 1 through 3 only. - Controlled turkey 9013, October 10 through November 3. - Black bear through October 31. In Unit 22 the general bear season is restricted to private land or within a mile of it. No cabin, no lodging, no food plots, no stands, no guide. Council is the nearest town. Some great options to stay. $10,000 for the thirty-four days, negotiable. Call for access, parking and boundary details.
