About This AreaJames D. Christie Conservation Area and The Eva Neely Davis Memorial Conservation Area are located in Andrew County. In 1915, James D. Christie donated 139 acres to the citizens of Andrew County to develop an agricultural experimental station to conduct research projects. In 1976, the Conservation Department was appointed trustee to manage the area for various wildlife species. The Department purchased an additional 35 acres to bring the area to its present size. In 1971, Eva Davis donated 30 acres of forest land north of the Christie area to the Department.The areas are managed for a wide range of game and non-game wildlife species and are available to the public for a variety of outdoor activities. Management of the area includes farming, haying, and prescribed burning, plus developing wildlife habitat by tree, shrub, and grass plantings and selective harvesting of timber.
