About This Lease
Driving DirectionsFrom Philadelphia, take Route D north 2 miles, then Route J west 0.50 mile, and County Road 123 north 1 mile. HighlightsThis forest and old fields area offers access to the South Fabius River. About This AreaThe Conservation Department purchased land for Dunn Ford Access in 1982 in order to provide additional public access to South Fabius River. The 136-acre area is mostly open fields with timber along the river and on upland hill slopes. The original Dunn Ford, which was used in earlier times as a crossing for cattle drives, was located a short distance downstream of this area.Access to the river is by a short foot path off the area's parking lot. The South Fabius River extends 0.7 miles along the north boundary of the area. This small river has several pools and riffles and numerous root wads that provide good fish habitat. This portion of the river is suitable for bank fishing, wading, and floating. The next access for canoeists is Blackhawk access, 10 river miles downstream, a long day's float.
