To provide an interspersion of habitat types that enhances wildlife abundance, particularly white-tailed deer and ring-necked pheasants, and to provide recreational opportunities.Initially purchased in 1969, with additional purchases in 1970 and 1973. White-tailed deer, upland gamebirds, furbearers, and numerous small mammals are present year-round; mule deer and antelope are seen occasionally. Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, and mourning doves nest on the WMA, while 16 other species of waterfowl, some shorebirds, raptors and about 100 species of songbirds can be found through much of the year.
