Located in the rolling hills of central Houghton County, this area boasts beautiful terrain features that create an incredible wildlife habitat. Just a few steps across the property line had me flushing deer and grouse, and this is just the beginning of discovering a very special place that is home to mature bucks, as well as bear, turkey, woodcock, and grouse, which the UP is renowned for. Access to the area is via a mowed easement, which is easily navigable by any vehicle. The parking and access point is on high, dry ground next to a neighboring overgrown apple orchard. The propertys high ground features a winding bluff that was logged many years ago and has since regrown into thick bedding cover, providing excellent habitat for deer. Even in July, I found two open and active scrapes on the edge of this area. The bluff drops slopes down into a semi-open mix of hardwood and softwood, leading to a thick creek bottomland with a beautiful, clean creek running through it. Old logging roads crisscross the area, although they would need clearing for ATV access. This land has remained un-hunted for many years, preserving its natural beauty and wildlife. For those looking to experience the best of what the Upper Peninsula has to offer in terms of hunting and wildlife, this area stands out as a prime example.
