From I-35: take Exit 68, then Highway 69 north 7 miles, then Route Z west 7.80 miles, then Route A north 3.10 miles, then 430th Street to the area entrance. HighlightsThis area is a mixture of forest, old field, and cropland habitat. The area features a boat ramp with access to the Grand River, a firearms shooting range, primitive camping, and a disabled accessible privy. About This AreaThe Conservation Department initially purchased property for Elam Bend Conservation Area in 1979 in order to provide a river-oriented, multiple-use area on an unchannelized portion of the upper Grand River. Subsequent additions to the area have increased its size to 1,483 acres.In addition to providing river access and river-oriented recreation, the area is managed for both game and non-game species of upland and forest wildlife.
