About This AreaThe Dale Sare Conservation Area is an upland forested area that covers an estimated 320 acres. The majority of the area is oak-hickory forest. The hillsides and drainages to the north and east of the only creek on the area (which is dry 90 percent of the year) make up the upland forested areas. There is one open field near the center of the area. The forest is made up of poor to fair quality, pole, and sawtimber sized trees. The area is a woodland community type with black jack oak, post oak, chinkapin oak, and shagbark hickory growing on the site. The area is well suited to small groups in a primitive setting to facilitate their participation in resource management activities and to provide opportunities particularly for youth to use, enjoy and learn outdoor skills related to forest and wildlife resources.
