The 74-acre Conant Wildlife Area lies in northeast Ohio, southeastern Ashtabula County, and Hartsgrove Township. Located on Windsor-Mechanicsville Road, U.S. Route 6 is less than one mile to the north, State Route 534 is two miles to the west, and State Route 45 is 2.5 miles to the east. The area has very little topography and, with the exception of two small creeks, is poorly drained. Eighty-five percent of the area is second growth forest with dominant species of ash, maple, red oak, and pin oak.
Two small tributaries to the Grand River flow through the area producing several acres of natural and beaver marshes. The area also shares its eastern and northeastern boundaries with the Rome State Nature Preserve.
