Facilities/features: primitive camping, Winegar Lake (nine acres), permanent stream (South Moreau Creek). About This AreaScrivner Road Conservation Area is in Cole County about three miles south of Russellville. Parts of this 919-acre site were donated by Mrs. Alvon Winegar in 1984. The nine-acre Winegar Lake is a central feature of the area, which also includes more than two miles of South Moreau Creek frontage.This former cattle farm was extensively grazed and logged in the past and is now managed for wildlife and public recreation. The 8.5-mile Moreau Creek trail system provides access to most of the area.Management includes periodic prescribed burning to provide high quality wildlife habitat. Field crops left in the creek bottoms and food plots seeded in upland areas provide additional winter food and cover for wildlife.The target shooting range offers a shotgun range, and 25-, 50-, and 100-yard rifle and pistol ranges.Special length and creel limits apply to the area's fishing waters (see Area Regulations).
